MOPS Surprise

August 13, 2012 [Your Letters] Someone asked me if I remembered your talk at our MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group last year, and I was surprised because I was just thinking about that talk just this morning. Actually, why am I surprised by that? I think about the wisdom you shared quite often and try very hard to incorporate it into my life. I had only recently begun to re-attend Church and sometimes wonder about what I actually do believe and how strong my faith actually is. The most amazing thing about your talk, Karen, was that it helped me to realise that, yes, I do trust in God and his ultimate plan. I may struggle with aspects of religion and the Church but I am convicted 100% that God will always lead my husband perfectly if I just (in your words) “Get out the way and let him BE the leader!” It’s not always easy. I have a naturally bossy personality and have grown up with strong female role models. I am part of the generation that were encouraged to ‘go girlfriend!’. Through your very funny and engaging talk, I began to realise I don’t have to lose any strength or zest for life by letting my husband lead me. I simply have to acknowledge the simple fact that the male species is

DESIGNED to lead and I need to have the humility to r

espect this. The best part about this is that it’s SUCH a relief to let hubby take control and make decisions whilst I sit back and calmly support him and my family. It makes my hubby happier, me calmer and my children feel secure about how our family unit works. What’s not to like about that?!
